Rug art

These are little segments of a huge wall rug onboard the ship. I admired it everyday by the Explorations cafe on my way to the internet cafe while Richard made me either an iced cafe mocha or a fruit smoothie - my fav. was mango guava. Richards station was the only place onboard we could get canned diet coke. Everywhere else they insisted on pouring it into a glass.
We were his best customers because we need canned coke!

The internet cafe was impressive with perhaps 30 or more computers and the same amount of music listening islands. The music available was vast but i found hard to make a playlist because the earphone cord was too short and my back had to be on a funny angle to make it. However once you had made your list you could settle into a comfy recliner and gaze out at the sea or read as you listened. Your playlist was saved with your password for the duration of the cruise.

The library was well stocked with books, dvds and plenty of jig-saw puzzles and lots of games. Little groups formed to play or learn new games. A huge 4000 piece puzzle was completed a couple days after we arrived. It had been worked on during the 116 day world cruise that had started and finished in New York just prior to our arrival. Some of those original passengers stayed onboard to see Alaska after they dropped us off! I didnt find a new piece in the big puzzle; however i did discover a piece wrongly placed so that was my contribution. Several 1000 piece puzzles were completed while we were onboard with my biggest contribution being 5 or 6 pieces. The internet connection was quite slow and costly and i spent a small fortune on it. I eventually discovered the connection was much faster when we were docked than it was when we were moving. However, on my next cruise i know i'll be better off to purchase the unlimited time offer than to keep buying small blocks of time. Alternately for just email purposes they had a cruise mail set up that cost $2.50 per email sent or received. I needed full internet because of the Canucks being in the playoffs and Survivor, Amazing Race and Americas next top Model ending while we were at sea. Well, also had to keep tabs on kids and the fur-kid.
