A funny thing happened; not really sure why (but its ok now and it dosn't even matter)So no big deal but i thought it was a little strange. But hey, maybe its normal and if so, well now i know.
I've been a nail biter all my life.....well, ok, ever since i've had teeth. And now i dont have teeth anymore but i still bite my nails. No no, thats not true lol. I've got teeth but now i've got nails that cant be bitten off!
A few weeks ago i went to a manicure/pedicure place and had solar nails applied, and *ooooh* i just love having nails...now i can pretend i'm a lady. Every couple weeks i go and get them filled cuz the real nail grows underneath them and theres a gap left at the base and it has to be filled in so nobody can tell they're fakes.....yeah, right, lol. Everyone knows they're fake but its ok cuz everyone has them and the french manicure look is very in around here.(well,i don't get the squared off look; it dosnt look good on me so i get them rounded off a little)
I've had them filled a few times now and everythings been cool. Today i had a couple coats of "cotton candy" nailpolish applied and a clear coat over that. I held them in front of a fan for 10-15 mins. and when they felt dry i left the salon.
I knew i still had to be careful for a while and i was but by the time i got into the car and my seat belt on i had smudged/scraped/dented the polish on every nail of my right hand and one nail on the other hand as well.
Back into the salon and the polish was removed and reapplied. This time i sat in the fan for 20 minutes or more and i was super careful getting into the car and managed to get my seat belt on without doing any damage. It was then a 15 min. drive to Starbucks and i drove with the AC blowing directly on them full force (it was a hot day anyhow) Getting in and out of the car and getting the $ out of my bag was stressful but uneventful...i was super careful. Then i enjoyed my orange-mocha frappachino on the 10 min drive home.
When i got home i smudged the polish on one thumb nail getting out of the car. By then a whole hour had passed and my polish still wasnt dry? What the hell do they make nail polish out of these days? pudding?
It was all pushed into a folded up heap of soft polish onto one side of the nail. Well, i dont have any nail polish at home, and dont intend to buy any, thats what i pay the salon to do so i wondered what to do. What could i do? I sure as hell wasnt going to go all the way back to the salon again.
So i sort of pushed it and patted it back into place and gently burnished and buffed it until it was more or less back in place and flattened. It dosnt actually look too bad unless you look real closely. I havent got time to go back in the next few days anyhow and i think i'm ok with it.
So then i sat around acting like a delicate lady without touching anything for another whole hour until i thought for sure they'd be really dry. Nope. Still that soft punky feeling! Finally i could tell they were more or less dry and by then it was a total of over THREE HOURS drying time! WTF kind of nail polish did that guy put on me?
Well, in trying to answer my own question i have one idea anyhow. I didnt notice him shaking the bottle and i'm thinking that the oil in the stuff must have floated to the top....maybe? Is that possible? As a new nail person how do i know? Are nail polishes like that?
I'm guessing this colour isnt really popular. Most women dont seem to use any polish at all and the few who do go in for purple, black or bronze or whatever. Mine could have been sitting there for weeks, or even months maybe with the oil floating to the top. Or it was just a funny bottle of polish?
So, guess i'll leave it at that. It was'nt shaken enough, or at all. Next time i'll make sure it is cuz i like it and love the way it goes so well with the colour of my birthstone. But who's got time to watch nailpolish dry for 3 hours? Uh uh, not me, that was about 2 hrs and 45 mins too long for me!
